Join us for a “walk on the wild side” at this NEW Coastwalk family adventure based at the zoo. The San Francisco Zoo is just steps away from the California Coastal Trail, so it was a natural for us to combine an overnight with a hike at this optimum location. This is an urban campout; families can opt to pitch a tent or sleep indoors. It will be summer in San Francisco, so be prepared for fog!
Following a pizza dinner, we’ll have a docent-led night safari through the Zoo and another presentation by the Zoo staff. At nightfall, go to sleep under the stars in the urban savanna. The next morning, wake to the sounds of animals stirring. We’ll have a light breakfast and a morning tour, then hike along the California Coastal Trail with our knowledgeable Coastwalk leaders. We’ll end with a picnic lunch served by volunteers either on the beach or at Golden Gate Park.
